Dr. Rakesh Patel was a 33-year-old man and the youngest amost his siblings who lived and worked at MedStar Washington Hospital Center.
Originally from India, Dr. Rakesh worked at the Intensive Care Unit at MedStar Washington Hospital Center.
Before his demise, Dr. Patel was under training as a Critical Care fellow. He was involved in a hit-and-run in the Adams Morgan area of Washington on Tuesday night.

Rakesh Patel was involved in a hit and run and was pronounced dead shortly after he was taken to the hospital for treatment.
The Metropolitan Police Department reported that the unfortunate happened at about 8 pm on Tuesday.
The police have decided to reward an amount of $25,000 to anyone who have information leading to the capture of the person/s who were involved in the killing.

It is reported that the doctor had gotten out of his Mercedes E350 car to give a package to his girlfriend but left his car running.
While with the girlfriend an unknown carjacker got into the car of the Doctor and speed off.
In an attempt to chase after carjackers in the neighborhood, Dr. Rakesh Patel was struck by his own car while his girlfriend witnessed.
