Teenage Pregnancy Needs To Be Talked Against.

Teenage Pregnancy is a pregnancy in a woman 19 years of age or younger. Incidence of teenage pregnancy is on an increase in this generation. Many teenage girls are seen on the streets of today pregnant  Of late, teenage pregnancy has become a common thing in our areas. Teenage mothers walk about proudly with no cause for alarm.

The situation is getting out of hands and needs drastic measures to curb it. Inability of parents to provide for their children has become a leading cause of teenage pregnancy. Irresponsibility on the side of parents gets their teenage girls pregnant. In some instances, poverty plays a role in this issue.

Lack of sex education, curiosity, peer influence, ignorance and broken homes are among the leading causes of teenage pregnancy.

Teenage pregnancy poses high risk on the health of the teenage girl. The teenage mother can suffer from anemia, preeclampsia (high blood pressure), ectopic pregnancy and other related complications.

Health risk imposed on the unborn baby include; premature birth, low birth weight and even death.

According to the World Health Organization, complications during pregnancy or child birth are the leading cause of death globally for teenage girls.

The Ministry for Gender and Social Protection needs to enforce strict rules and measures to help fight against teenage pregnancy.
