The summer transfer window for the 2020/2021 season closed yesterday evening and saw several deadline day moves including Thomas Partey to Arsenal and Ruben Loftus Cheek to Fulham on loan. But which Premier League team made the best signing?
It is a transfer window that has seen clubs in the Premier League spending huge amounts of money despite the financial impacts that COVID -19 has had on the global economy.
The likes of Kai Havertz, Gareth Bale have joined Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspurs respectively, but which club has made the best signings in the window. We take a look.
Which Premier League Team made the best signings?
Manchester City were certainly desperate to reinforce their defensive setup after it cost them dearly in their chase for the Premier League title.
Nathan Ake from Bournemouth and Ruben Dias from Benefica have both joined the club as they intend to solve their defensive problems.
On the other hand, of the pitch, they have brought in Ferran Torres from Valencia but they failed to bring in a striker to help Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus.
On the side of Liverpool, they were able to bring Diogo Jota from Wolves and Thiago Alcantara from Bayern Munich. While the new acquisitions will bolster their already strong squad, their inability to bring in a goalkeeper may come back to haunt them.
Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham Hotspurs were also busy in the just ended transfer window bringing in Sergio Regulion and Gareth from Real Madrid, Pierre-Emile Kordt Højbjerg from Southampton, Joe Hart and Matt Doherty from Wolves. The signings look perfect for Spurs and they could just be on their way to glory this season.
Perhaps it is Chelsea who have had a better transfer window. The club has strengthened almost all departments in the team in a bid to challenge for the Premier League trophy this season. In the post, they have brought in Mendy to replace Kepa while Ben Chilwell and Thiago Silva have been brought in to help bolster the defensive options.
In the attacking third, they have secured the services of Timo Werner from RB Leipzig while Hakim Ziyech and Kai Havertz have joined from Ajax and Bayer Leverkusen respectively.
