Disqualified Presidential Aspirant Seeks Injunction On Dec 7 Elections


Nana Agyenim Boateng of the United Front Party (UFP) ,the disqualified presidential aspirant has filed a suit at the law court to present the Electoral commission of Ghana(EC) form conducting the general elections slated for 7th December 2020.

He believes the EC’s decision to disqualify him is not coherent and describes as a move that is devoid of common sense.

He therefore filed the lawsuit on Monday, October 19 2020.

This is aimed at bringing the EC to book and if possible withhold the general the preparation towards the general elections untill the EC is made clean.

Gyataba, as the Flagbearer of the United Front Party (UFP) is often called, stated clearly, the decision of the EC to sideline him and the other four individuals form contesting the 2020 elections does not go in line with the constitution.

He says it violates Article 23 and constitutional instrument(CI) of the 1992 constitution. Nana Agyenim Boateng was disqualified by the EC together with four other colleagues. The disqualified persons with the exception of him includes:

Kwesi Addai Odike, Kofi Koranteng, Marricke Kofi Gane and Kwesi Busumbru, Gyataba .

The Court has scheduled Monday, November 2 to hear the case.

It is therefore his urgent plea that the court hears his case and he is hoping to win the case. If the opposite happens, Ghanaians will be deprived of their choice. Ghanaians will be forced to choose someone they do not prefer to be president he added.
